Autumn by mail: from Cambridge with hope.
We ceased to send letters to friends.
We phone them to say a few words
about how we do now.
Nothing too complicated, nothing too serious:
Just couple of phrases to keep in touch.
Not too much to call ourselves friends.
And when the autumn comes we look back
Towards previous years
To recollect the summer of our hopes.
Let the autumn become our last resort.
